
This is a poster created for my Women and Media class that took place in the fall of 2024. Over the course of the semester, we created a portfolio as we analyzed messages in a medium of our choosing. The media created looks at how women were portrayed in songs written/preformed by men in the pop music industry. To create this project, I analyzed information from scholarly articles, as well as messages in the pool of songs chosen, to create meaning and better communicate how music can affect people and their cognitive processes. The target audience was my classmates and my professor, Dr. Kretz. This item addresses learning outcome 1 because the message created was done so creatively, as to catch the eye, as well as provide relevant information. Learning outcome 2 was fulfilled by taking the messages from not only popular music, but also scholarly written sources and then blended together to create information that was gathered from both.
